Prior to the quantity field, every inventory item in MRG was stored on its own line. So if you had 1,000 identical items, you would have 1,000 lines in MRG. With the new quantity field for inventory, you have more flexibility with how you store inventory in MRG.
If you bought a pallet or storage unit or lot of items, instead of listing each item separately, you could enter 1 line with the total amount paid, the number of items, and the purchase date.
Ex. If you purchased 100 cards for $10, you would enter this inventory as:
This will help a lot of folks cut down on time entering inventory. Some examples include:
- Sports and Trading Card Sellers
- Postcard Sellers
- Large Quantities of Identical Inventory
- Purchasing Lots/Pallets
When you match a sold item to an inventory item with a quantity greater than 1, MRG will automatically assign the average price of the item to the sale.
For example, if you sell an item that has a quantity of 10 and a total purchase price of $100, the sale will by default be assigned a purchase price of $10. However, if you need to adjust the purchase price, you can simply type in a different amount.
When you record the sale, whatever purchase price you type will be subtracted from the total purchase price of the remaining inventory and the quantity of the inventory will be reduced by 1.
