How to Get Started
The hardest part can be getting started; we make it our goal to make this as easy as possible! Below, we are going to show you how to get your data imported into My Reseller Genie, and for our Ultimate Plan users, we will show you how to set up the eBay, Poshmark, and Mercari integrations.

Set Up Walkthrough Feature
My Reseller Genie has implemented a set up walkthrough feature that seeks to make the remainder of this article unneeded. To access this feature, click the "Get Started" tab on the left of the screen, then click the "Start Set Up" button.
My Reseller Genie will ask you a series of questions to help you import your past data and set up your account. If you complete these steps and need to go back and import more sales/inventory, you can refer to the instructions below.
Getting Set Up: Inventory and Sales Imports
The first thing you will need to do is get your data into MRG. If you use the accrual inventory method, you will need to import both inventory and sales (if you use the cash inventory method, you don't need to enter inventory into MRG, but can if you would like). If you have a current inventory list, this is the best source to upload to MRG. If you do not have a current inventory list, choose the platform that contains most of your inventory and upload inventory from there. Do not upload inventory from each platform if you crosspost, because this will lead to duplicates.
Below, we will cover how to add data from different platforms:
eBay, Poshmark, and Mercari
The video above demonstrates the import process, but you can also follow these steps:
-
- Click Integrations > Import (each integration has a clickable “Import” button)
- If you haven't set up an integration before, follow the on screen prompts to connect your account
- Select "Inventory" and click "Import Inventory"
- Click Import (you may need to wait a minute for the last import to complete)
- Select "Sales" and set the start date for how far back you'd like to pull data
- Done! It may take a couple minutes to pull your data, and you'll be able to see it on the "Inventory" and/or "Sales" sections in the "Transaction Details" tab.
All Other Platforms/Your Own Spreadsheet/Cross Posting Software
This step is for you if you have data from additional selling platforms, data from a spreadsheet you have been keeping, or if you'd like to import everything from Vendoo, List Perfectly, or another cross posting service.
There's two ways that you can add this data: uploading from a file or manually entering.
Uploading from a File:
-
- Simply download your reports and save to your computer (for List Perfectly or Vendoo you can download an inventory and sales CSV report).
- For sales:
- In My Reseller Genie, click on Report Sale > Bulk Upload
- Select “Upload without matching to inventory” and click “Next”
- Select “Other” and click “Next”
- Follow the prompts on the screen, upload your file, and map the columns using the dropdowns
- For inventory:
- In My Reseller Genie, click on Add Inventory > Bulk Upload
- Follow the prompts on the screen, upload your file, and map the columns using the dropdowns
Manually Entering:
Inventory:
-
- Click "Add Inventory"
- Add details and click "Add"
- If you'd like to add multiple items without the form closing, click "Add and Next" instead
Sales:
-
- Click "Report Sale"
- Turn off the "Quick View" toggle in the upper right
-
Add details and click "Add"
- If you have items in inventory, the "Item Title" box will search these items based on what you type.
- You don't need to match to an item in inventory. You can just type the title you want to use and move forward with your data entry.
- If you'd like to add multiple sales without the form closing, click "Add and Next" instead
Inventory Costing
Depending on how you handle inventory, you may have some more work to do for set up. Generally speaking, resellers use either the cash inventory method or the accrual inventory method. For more details on what this means, check out this article: What is the difference between the cash inventory method and the accrual inventory method?
If you use the accrual inventory method, you will need to make sure your inventory and sales are all updated with the purchase price and purchase date (how much you paid for the item and when you bought it). The fastest way to do this will be with the bulk edit feature: How to bulk edit sales and/or inventory. You can also manually edit inventory and/or sales by double clicking on the item.
Time to Celebrate
Woohoo! You just got through the "hardest" part. Everything above is for your initial set up only, and you don't have to worry about it again!

It is difficult to find the required format for uploading inventory csv files.
I found it once a while ago, but cannot find it a second time.
Hey Allen, on the first page of the uploader, there's a link that says “Download example". That will give you a sample file with headings that you can copy/paste data into. However, with the new import tool, you don't need to have these exact headings. You can instead upload a file and map your headings to MRG headings in the import tool.
